Today we are going to begin the Sew Along for the DIY Meghan Markle dress that I made last summer. I had the look on my Pinterest board for what seemed like forever. After receiving some beautiful denim fabric from Minerva.com I finally tried to give it a go and recreate my own version of the dress. While some of the techniques (I am looking at you belt making) were new to me, I did my best to record everything and tell you what worked (and what didn’t work) during this project. Come follow along as we look at Day 1: Supplies, Patterns and Prep
For this DIY Meghan Markle Dress I used two patterns:
McCalls 7745 view D- the bodice portion only
Simplicity 2996 – View C modified with View A pockets
In the YouTube video I review the reasons why I purchased these patterns and the features that I am working hard to recreate. I discuss modifications I will be making prior to cutting the pattern. As well as show you the mistakes I made when cutting and how you can avoid them.
Tune in tomorrow when we begin sewing together the Bodice of the DIY Meghan Markle Dress. SEW ALONG DAY 2
Until next time,
Happy Sewing
