Tell Me About the Daniella Pattern
As you can see, this is a top and not a dress. The Daniella Pattern is actually designed as a dress. A quick and easy sew designed for knit fabrics. It is slightly a-line and looser through the body with puff sleeves and turtleneck. I made a top version for two reasons. First, it was more practical for my everyday wardrobe. And second, it naturally separated into two pieces on the AO file for my projector, so it was easy to just cut a top length.
This is one quick sew. About 1 hour from cut to finish. You simply sew your shoulder seams, insert the neck and arms with cuffs, hem and you’re done! I completed everything on my serger except the bottom hem. I used my favorite honeycomb stitch on my machine for finishing the hem. Paired with my favorite knit hem tape which makes sewing knits a breeze.

What changes would I recommend?
I think this pattern would be fantastic as is but I didn’t actually sew the dress version. I would make the dress as it is quite a quick and simple sew. If you make a top, I would recommend adding a few inches to the hemline if you are using the AO file. The pattern is naturally cut in two parts for the AO file, but I wish I would have made my top a few inches longer. Also, taper in the waist area for a better fit. I took about an inch in on each side bottom hem, tapering from the waist area to the underbust.
Overall the Daniella is a great puff sleeve pattern. I love the fit of the turtleneck. It is tall and not too tight. The sleeves have a little bit of volume but could go even bigger and look fabulous. Check out all the new Fibre Mood Releases to see what you might enjoy!

Pretty! How much fabric did it take for just the top? I think Iām about your size. Thanks!!

Thank you – This was a scrap I had left over…I am guessing I had about a yard, maybe a tad bit more or less, but I was able to cut it out. The sleeves were the most challenging, luckily I had some larger, odd shaped areas where I could place them!
