Oh my goodness, this one has been hard to keep secret. Awhile back I was able to test a new free sewing pattern from Made for Mermaids. Well, me-made-may rolled around and sadly I could not post a single picture of the the cute new Mama Paige Piko Pattern on my instagram. But the wait is over! Made for Mermaids is offering this free pattern to their facebook fans. So, if you don’t yet follow this wonderful group, jump over there and sign up to follow along and receive this free pattern.
Mama Paige Piko Sewing Pattern Review:
Pattern Description:
The Mama Paige Piko is a quick and simple knit top, tunic, and dress. This is a dolman sleeve pattern with a straight from the chest to the hip cut. The pattern includes two neck line options, finished with binding. There are three sleeve options including a flounce, half sleeve, and long sleeve and three hemline options.
Pattern Sizing:
Sizes Grey-Red which coordinates with the Made for Mermaids size charts. I cut the straight Pink.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, this is a very easy and simple sew. The neckline binding may be different for some who are used to adding bands but it was easy to follow along.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The best part is…it’s free. Can’t beat that. It is a cute and versatile style. Easy to make and wear and comes together with little time and fabric. The only part I do not love is the length on the back of the tunic. It is really long for my tastes but that can be easily changed.
Fabric Used:
This is a fabulous mustard rayon spandex from LA Finch Fabrics.
You can find more beautiful fabrics that would look great in this pattern here.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made?
None. This is the short sleeve, curved hem tunic length with the low neckline.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely, I have made a top and a dress and plan on making more. This is great for anyone. It is beginner friendly.
Conclusion:
What a great gift from a wonderful pattern company. Please join their facebook page and see all the great inspiration that is posted daily and pick up some wonderful free patterns as well. They also have a huge selection of patterns to choose from to create your own modern wardrobe.
