This Lodo Dress is not my first and it most definitely won’t be my last. The pattern released last year by True Bias is a good one. It manages to be a simple sew, without a ton of details or shaping while still being insanely comfortable and flattering. Read on to see my full Lodo Dress Pattern Review and why I think you should add it to your pattern stash.

Lodo Dress Pattern Review
Pattern Description:
The Lodo pattern is an elevated take on a basic t-shirt dress. It has a straight fit through the waist and hips and a slightly tapered hem to create a subtle cocoon shape. It has a flattering deep V neck at center front and an extended cap sleeve. Both the neckline and armholes are finished with a woven facing for stability and structure. View A has a hem that hits at mid calf with a slit at center back for moveability. View B’s hem hits a couple of inches above the knee
Pattern Sizing:
0-18, I made the size 4
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, this pattern is super simple and very thorough easy directions. There is a sew along on the website too for added help. You can find it here.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the slight cocoon shape, the cap sleeve and the two different dress lengths. While I don’t love the midi length on myself I love having the option to make this for others that may look great in it. The facings are in a non stretch fabric and offer a simple and easy way to finish the neck and arm edges.

Fabric Used:
Scuba Knit. This was a seasonal knit from Hobby Lobby. It is a lovely pale pink with a gold leaf type design on top. It gives it a subtle shimmer and is so cute in person.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None, this one is perfect as is. I have made a bell long sleeve version for Christmas in a suede Black scuba and it was great. So, you certainly can do other looks with this pattern.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely. This is a great beginner pattern for anyone comfortable sewing knits. When using scuba knits I feel like it is even easier because they offer more stability.

Conclusion:
This dress is awesome. Super quick, easy, flattering, and so versatile. I plan on having a variety in my closet and think it is worth the price tag to add this one to your pattern stash. You can create many comfortable and stylish dresses for years to come. It doesn’t use a ton of fabric or time to make so I think it is well worth the more expensive indie pattern price tag.
