I recently shared my review and lots of pictures of the Roxy Swimsuits I made during testing. If you missed it, please make sure to check it out here. If you haven’t grabbed this pattern yet or you are on the fence, let me show you another cute look you can make from the Roxy Swimsuit. I love a pattern that offers versatility and in addition to having several great swimsuit options, this pattern is a great one for a pattern hack. Below I have made a dress using a Roxy Swimsuit Hack.
For this look I simply took the top of the swimsuit pattern and rather than adding a peplum skirt, I added a longer circle skirt that I cut to her measurements.
I used a rayon spandex from So Sew English and it is soft and flowy. It provides a great weight for the skirt and plenty of twirl factor for spinning.
I cut both the main and lining in the same fabric and assembled it the same as the swimsuit pattern except I left off all elastic. I simply added the circle skirt as you do the peplum in the pattern. I love that it is quick to make and you can create so many tops and dresses as well as an awesome swimsuit. I can’t wait to add more peplum tops and these circle skirt dresses to her closet. To check out another easy pattern hack I posted, check this post. You can also find several pattern reviews and sewing tutorials here.
I love sewing for so many different reasons, but seeing my little girl fill with delight as she sees the latest item I made her is so encouraging for me as a seamstress. The fact she reaches for this dress every time it is fresh out of the laundry, tells me it is a winner. I hope you have enjoyed this look at the very easy Roxy Swimsuit Dress Hack. Until next time, Happy Sewing!
