When I saw the fabulous Mimi G wearing this cardigan on Insta I knew I wanted to give it a try. Truth be told, I probably would have passed by it without her review. I wasn’t sure it was my style, but then I made it and I love it. What’s not to love about a swingy, fun cardigan that can be styled up or down? If you love it too and want to pick one up, you can find the pattern here.
Madison Cardigan Pattern Review
PATTERN DESCRIPTION:
Madison is the stylish cardigan your closet needs for the fall. Her drape will turn heads and she’s a quick and easy sew!
PATTERN SIZING:
- Sizes included XXS – XXXL (covers sizes 0 – 26 US) I cut the size 4 and feel like the fit was great except for my sleeves. They are on the shorter side and I would like another inch or so there.
Supplies Needed:
Medium/heavy weight double knits, such as ponte knit, scuba knits. I used a knit boucle that I found on Clearance from Joann Fabrics and Crafts
Sewing Machine, Pattern, fabric scissors
DID IT LOOK LIKE THE PHOTO/DRAWING ON THE PATTERN ENVELOPE ONCE YOU WERE DONE SEWING?
Yes, I feel like it reflected the pattern well.
WERE THE INSTRUCTIONS EASY TO FOLLOW?
Super easy and there are sew along videos to watch as well.
WHAT DID YOU PARTICULARLY LIKE OR DISLIKE ABOUT THE PATTERN?
I love the waterfall front, the drape of the back, the flowy feel, the ease of the pattern and how quickly it comes together. I don’t love the sleeve length as it is almost too short on me, but that’s an easy change.
WOULD YOU SEW IT AGAIN? WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS?
While this isn’t a cardigan I plan on having tons of, I would love to add a couple more to my closet. Maybe some classic solids to mix and match with other pieces or I think this could be great in a loud print for spring!
CONCLUSION:
I think this pattern is a winner. Easy to sew, easy to wear, and versatile in style for casual or dressy. It adds just a little bit extra to a look and it flows so beautifully while worn.
