I am currently enjoying sewing my favorite summer dresses, tops, and tanks but when I tested this amazing bell bottom pattern and received the most lush rib knit I knew all summer sewing needed to pause! I absolutely needed to recreate this pinterest ad to create my very own perfect outfit for fall. The best part is, the whole outfit took minimal sewing time and I absolutely love how it turned out.
The original Pin can be found here.
To recreate this look I paired two amazing patterns from Made for Mermaids. The pants are the Bailey Bell Bottoms and I wrote a full review on this pattern here. For this look I used high stretch denim that I thrifted awhile back. Although the denim was quite stretchy, I still had to create a second waistband after the first one would not get up over my hips…LOL. I added about 3 inches to the waistband (fabric only, not elastic) and tried again…phew, got em on! These pants are made using the slim flare option and I have to say I love them even more than the full flare- just the perfect amount of bell on my bottom 🙂

For the top I chose the Jamie Poncho Pattern. I absolutely love this and am wondering why this is the first one I have ever made…what was I thinking? It took all of about 30 minutes to put together, it is the most comfortable thing ever and can be worn tucked in or worn out. I made a couple modifications to the pattern to achieve the look of the Pinterest Top. I chose to add 3 inches to the length, omit the band, and add 6 total inches to the sleeve (it’s folded onto itself so it’s 3 inches in length addition on the finished sleeve).

But what really makes the top amazing and super comfy is the amazing fabric. This was my first go at rib knit and I don’t know what I will do without a large stash. This is lush rib knit from Mily Mae fabrics and it is indeed super lush. Amanda gifted this cut to me and I quickly went back and bought several more yards of rib. I need to make all the things…in all the rib knit now 🙂 I also created a full length Maxi for my daughter using this beautiful floral rib from Mily Mae. I was just sad when she requested a long sleeve maxi because I knew it would take up all this gorgeous fabric and I selfishly wanted something for myself. Her dress is the Patterns for Pirates Boundless and I wrote a full review of this pattern here.

The lace overlay dress is the original boundless I made and wrote the review on as well as a lace overlay tutorial.
I am so happy with how this gorgeous rib knit sewed up and I have a head full of project ideas for fall. Until I get some more pieces I am sure to get a ton of wear from this perfect fall outfit.
